Shettiman Says Enemies Accuse Him Of Plotting To Assasinate Tinubu After Swearing-In
Vice-President Kashim Shettima has alleged of several
attempts by some people to create distrust between him and President Bola Tinubu
shortly after the administration assumed office.
According to the former Borno State Governor, the evil plans
include an allegation that he planned to assassinate the President.
Shettima, who made the revelation while speaking at the
public presentation of “My Life of Duty and Allegiance,” an autobiography
authored by former Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, however, silenced on the
identities of such individuals.
The Vice-President explained that the plot was hatched by
some politicians from his home state of Borno who tied the allegation to the traditional
attire he had gifted Tinubu during the political
campaign period, claiming the clothing was laced with harmful intent.
He added that those individuals allegedly approached Tinubu
barely three months into their tenure, accusing him of plotting to eliminate
the President and seize power.
According to him, Tinubu confronted him with the claim but he
later dismissed insinuations after had found out that the evil narratives were
incoherent.
“Three months after we were sworn in, some people went to
the President and told him I was planning to kill him and take over
government,” he said.
“The President told them their story did not add up. He said
when I gave him those clothes, I was not even certain to become the
vice-presidential candidate, and he himself was still an aspirant,” Shettima
stated.
Despite the warning, the Vice-President noted that Tinubu
went ahead to wear the attire, dismissing the claim as baseless and driven by
superstition.
“He wore the clothes because he is not fetish,” Shettima
added.
The Vice-President used the occasion to caution Nigerians
against actions capable of deepening divisions, urging citizens to embrace
unity and mutual trust.
He said, “We must learn to be our brother’s keeper, not
merchants of division.”
