Strange illness kills five varsity students in Kebbi
A total of five students at Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero, KSUSTA have been killed so far by a strange disease.
This followed the mysterious death of four students last week, while another student passed away on Sunday after falling ill overnight.
The officials from the World Health Organization (WHO) had visited the university last week for an awareness campaign on the dangers of meningitis.
The University’s Registrar, Maimaru Alhaji Tilli, who confirmed the deaths, however , out the casualty figure at four.
Tilli explained that the figure had been documented in the institution’s records.
“Yes, four students have died according to our records, but we do not yet know the cause. The Ministry of Health has cautioned us and advised that there is a need to decongest students’ accommodation,” he stated.
Tilli said the management of the institution had formally written to the Commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Abubakar Tunga, seeking guidance on measures to prevent further fatalities.
