Seven die in Imo fatal autocrash

 


No fewer than Seven travellers have lost their lives in a fatal autocrash along the Owerri-Aba Road in Imo State.

Several others were also injured during the accident which occurred on Sunday after three vehicles collided at Ulakwo area of the State.

Spokesman of the State Police Public Command, Henry Okoye, who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Owerri, the State Capital, said the victims died on the spot.

Okoye attributed the cause of the accident to violation of traffic rules.

He explained that that the passenger buses were heading to Aba from Owerri when the collision took place.

According to him, the bodies of the dead victims had been deposited in a morgue while injured were rushed to the nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Okoye said, “Yes, the DPO and his men are already on the ground to ensure order, that corpses are removed and the free flow of traffic. We are on top of the situation.”
