Lent: 'Omo Iya Tisa' calls for peaceful co-existence in Ibarapaland
Evangelist Samuel Opeoluwa Ojo, Special Adviser on Religious Matters to the House of Representatives member representing Ibarapa North and Central Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr Anthony Adebayo Adepoju popularly known as Ibarapa Kan, has called on the Christian faithfuls to use the Lent fasting period to deepen their commitment to peaceful co-existence in Ibarapaland.
The political appointee, popularly known as Omo Iya Tisa, the holy month of Lenten which coincides with Ramadan is a testament to the unity in diversity that Ibarapaland is known for.
Ojo, in his message to the Christian faithfuls on Lenten Season, asked them to use the spiritual exercise to consolidate their steadfast devotion to Jesus Christ, as their personal Lord and Saviour.
The gospel musician explained that the Lenten season is a period of self denial, deep spiritual rebirth and sober reflection.
He added that the season also gave the Christians the opportunity to demonstrate the love of Christ through empathy and generosity towards others, especially the needy and the poor masses in their environment.
According to him, residents of Ibarapaland, especially the Christians must ensure they live in peace with one another for development to thrive in each community and the zone at large.
He asked the people of Ibarapa North and Central Federal Constituency to use the holy month of Lenten to pray for their religious, political and community leaders.
"Let us use this season of Lenten which coincides with the holy month of Ramadan to preach peaceful co-existence and peace throughout the land of Ibarapa", he admonished
"The period is for us to renew our hearts and strengthen our faith, as well as uplifting the poor and comfort both the sick and those in despair" , The Special Adviser on Religious Matters added.
He appealed to the residents of Ibarapaland, especially the Christians to embrace the love of Jesus Christ by living in peace and harmony with others regardless of their religion, political and ethnic affiliations.
Ojo, however, asked the constituents to continue giving their support to Ibarapa Kan in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy regardless of their religion.
