Ogun Govt Disowns Circulating Environmental Permit Flyer, Warns Public Against Payment

The Ogun State Government has disowned a flyer currently circulating on social media and other platforms, warning members of the public against making payments or providing personal information in connection with environmental permits or compliance services advertised in the publication.

The warning comes amid the state government's continuing efforts to strengthen environmental regulation and waste management.

The state Ministry of Environment, Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA), and Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA) said they have no affiliation, partnership, endorsement or association with the individual(s) or organisation(s) behind the flyer.

In a public disclaimer signed by the Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Ola Oresanya, the government urged residents to disregard the publication and avoid engaging the contacts contained in it.

According to the Commissioner, members of the public should “not make any payment, provide personal information, or engage the contact advertised on the flyer” in relation to any purported government environmental permit, compliance service or related transaction.

He stressed that all legitimate environmental regulatory activities and payments must be handled through recognised and authorised government channels.

The statement further advised residents to verify the identity and authority of anyone claiming to represent the government before making payments or engaging their services.

“The public is urged to exercise caution and verify any purported government representative or service before making payments or engaging their services,” Oresanya stated.

The Commissioner said the disclaimer was issued to protect members of the public from possible fraud and misrepresentation.

Recent government statements have highlighted the roles of OGEPA and OGWAMA in environmental protection, regulatory enforcement and waste management across Ogun State.

The government therefore urged residents to rely only on official communication and authorised channels for environmental permits, compliance requirements and related transactions.
