Adebutu Campaign Dismisses Membership Claim, Says PDP Candidates Duly Registered

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed claims questioning the membership status of its candidates, especially the Governorship Candidate, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to it, the PDP candidates were duly registered members of the party and had been accredited and affirmed on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal for the 2027 elections.

Director of Publicity, Ladi Adebutu Campaign Committee, Afolabi Orekoya, while reacting to the claim, described it as “a figment of the ruling party’s imagination,”

Orekoya challenged those making the allegation to produce the party’s membership register to substantiate their claims.

“Before any issue, where is the register then?” he asked.

According to him, the allegations were part of what he described as propaganda being circulated by members of the ruling party.

“You don’t get it? These people are just doing a lot of propaganda all over the place. They said they want to go to court for the last two weeks, why have they not gone? They should bring out the register now,” Orekoya said.

He further argued that submission of a valid party membership card formed part of the requirements for candidates seeking to participate in the electoral process.

“Parts of INEC requirements is that you must submit your party membership card. So how will you have a membership card when you have not registered?

“And how will INEC accept your form, when you don’t have a membership card?” he queried.

Orekoya accused those behind the allegation of engaging in what he described as “cheap propaganda,” maintaining that there was no cause for alarm within the PDP camp.

“So, these people are just bunch of propagandists. They just propagating what is not correct. It’s just cheap propaganda, cheap propaganda they do,” he said.

He urged those who disagreed with the listing of Hon. Ladi Adebutu as a PDP candidate to approach INEC and challenge the process through the appropriate channels.

“There is no cause for alarm. They should go and challenge INEC for uploading Hon. Ladi Adebutu name on their portal,” Orekoya added.
