Foundation Takes Education Support to 20 Ogun Students
Twenty students from public secondary schools in Ogun State have received three-year educational scholarships from the House of Emmanuels Foundation in an intervention designed to ease the financial pressure of secondary education on their families.
The beneficiaries were unveiled and presented with scholarship packages at a ceremony held in Lisabi Grammar School, Idiaba, Abeokuta on Friday, September 25, 2026, marking the second edition of the foundation’s education support initiative.
The intervention followed a scholarship examination conducted by the foundation in April, which attracted more than 500 students from public secondary schools within Abeokuta North and Abeokuta South Local Government Areas.
The beneficiaries were selected after the examination based on their performances, with the top 20 candidates emerging from the competitive process.
The foundation’s scholarship covers the beneficiaries’ education from SS1 through SS3. In addition to tuition and other school charges, the students will receive school uniforms, school bags, sandals and writing materials.
The organisation also disclosed that it would pay the WAEC registration fees of the beneficiaries when they become eligible to sit for the examination.
Speaking through Hon. Solomon Enilolobo, Managing Director of Oluwalogbon Electronics, the founder of the foundation, Mr Oluwasegun Amos Emmanuel, said the initiative was established out of a desire to use education as a tool for changing the lives of young people.
Emmanuel said financial circumstances should not be allowed to prevent capable students from attaining their educational aspirations.
He therefore charged the beneficiaries to make effective use of the opportunity and remain committed to their studies, while encouraging them to extend similar support to others when they become financially capable.
Enilolobo, who represented the foundation’s founder at the ceremony, also counselled the students to be disciplined and avoid distractions capable of derailing their academic ambitions.
He told the beneficiaries that the scholarship presented them with an opportunity to improve not only their individual prospects but also the circumstances of their families.
Also addressing the students, the keynote speaker, Tobi Joseph, a media practitioner, life coach and corporate businessman, challenged them to demonstrate appreciation for the gesture through academic excellence.
Joseph said the performance of the beneficiaries would be an important factor in determining the foundation’s ability to extend the programme to more students in subsequent editions.
He encouraged the students to devote themselves to their books and make their achievements a source of inspiration to other young people.
The scholarship presentation attracted parents, teachers and other members of the community, many of whom expressed appreciation for the intervention.
One of the parents who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries’ families described the initiative as a major relief at a time when the cost of educating children continues to place considerable pressure on households.
The parent also appealed to the students to reciprocate the foundation’s sacrifice by maintaining good conduct and taking their academic work seriously.
The beneficiaries include Ogbada Joanne Ebere, Sogunle Haneefah, Fadipe Radiyat Ajibola and Oluneye Enoch Erioluwa of Abeokuta Grammar School; Obadina Fikayomi of Lantoro High School; and Ibikunle Aisha of Abeokuta Grammar School, Balogun.
Others are Oyinkansola Abeokuta of Abeokuta Girls Grammar School; Ladigbolu Joba of Anglican High School; Talabi Jolaade Jessica of Baptist Girls College; Adeboye Jumat of St. Leo’s College; Taiwo David Inioluwa of Catholic Comprehensive High School; Lawal Abraham of St. Peter’s College; and Iji Serere Grace of Ebenezer Grammar School.
The remaining awardees are Joshua Aduragbemi of Baptist Girls College; Orebajo Pelola and Ojekunle Oriade Sarat of Abeokuta Girls Grammar School; Ibrahim Anas Akanni of Baptist Boys High School; Osanyin Zaidat Toyosi of Premier Grammar School; Ashiru Toheeb Oluwadamilare of Lisabi Grammar School; and Dasaolu Emmanuel Oluwadarasimi of Anglican High School.
At the presentation, each beneficiary received a scholarship certificate alongside an academic support package.
The House of Emmanuels Foundation said the initiative forms part of its continuing intervention in education, particularly in supporting students whose families may face financial difficulties in meeting the cost of schooling.
The development was also reported by Platform Times, which has continued to highlight educational interventions and other community-focused initiatives across Ogun State.
