FMC Abeokuta NANNM, Nurse Leaders Fault 'Faceless' Group Over Repeated Attacks
The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi-Aba, Abeokuta branch, alongside Nurse Leaders at the institution, have condemned what they described as sustained attacks on the hospital by the Elegant Nurses Forum (ENF), accusing the group of spreading false and misleading information about the hospital.
NANNM FMC Abeokuta and the Nurse Leaders specifically identified the self-acclaimed coordinator of the group, Thomas Abiodun Olamide, alleging that he has repeatedly used social media as a platform to launch attacks against the hospital management led by Dr (Mrs) Sarah Titilola Ibiyemi and her Head of Nursing Services, Nurse Abosede Fagoyinbo, under the guise of activism.
Their reaction follows a fresh round of criticisms by the Elegant Nurses Forum, which has repeatedly accused the hospital management of neglecting staff welfare and failing to maintain some facilities within the institution.
In one of its recent statements, the group alleged that healthcare workers, particularly nurses, were poorly treated by the management and accused the nursing leadership of being behind some of the problems faced in the hospital.
Reacting to a series of posts published on Olamide's social media pages, NANNM FMC Abeokuta and Nurse Leaders described the allegations against the hospital as unfounded, insisting they were aimed at discrediting the image of the Federal Medical Centre.
They explained that the decision to publicly respond was prompted by persistent personal attacks directed at the nursing leadership and the institution as a whole.
According to the union and nurse leaders, criticism of public institutions should be based on facts rather than campaigns designed to malign individuals and undermine the reputation of the hospital.
They challenged Olamide to engage the hospital through appropriate channels instead of relying on social media to air grievances.
NANNM FMC Abeokuta and Nurse Leaders advised Olamide to apply for a job at FMC Abeokuta if he is currently out of work, rather than resorting to tarnishing the image of the institution.
They further warned that the hospital management will take appropriate legal and administrative actions against him if the malicious campaign continues.
They maintained that the hospital remains committed to delivering quality healthcare services and will not be distracted by baseless allegations.
NANNM FMC Abeokuta and Nurse Leaders dismissed all claims against the institution, reiterating their call on the group's coordinator to channel any genuine concerns through appropriate institutional mechanisms rather than social media.
