Ogun Secondary School Principal, Wale Adenaya, Sends Save-Our-Soul Message to Abiodun, NEMA as Flood Ravages Home, Farmland
The principal of Ijebu Imushin Comprehensive High School, Ijebu Imushin in Ijebu-East Local Government Area of Ogun State, Mr. Wale Adenaya, has appealed to Governor Dapo Abiodun, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Ogun State Emergency Management Agency (OGSEMA), and other relevant authorities for urgent intervention after devastating floods submerged his residence and destroyed his farmland.
Adenaya, who made the appeal in a video of the incident on his social media handles, described the ugly development as disheartening.
Adenaya said the persistent flooding has rendered his home uninhabitable, leaving his family in distress while also wiping out his means of livelihood through the destruction of his farmland.
The Editor-in-chief of Ogun ANCOPSS described the situation as a humanitarian emergency, noting that repeated appeals for assistance had yet to yield the desired response.
The school principal called on Governor Abiodun, NEMA, OGSEMA, and well-meaning Nigerians to urgently come to his aid through emergency relief materials, temporary shelter, and support to restore his damaged farmland.
According to him, prompt intervention is necessary to prevent further hardship and ensure the safety and well-being of his family.
"This is my house, you can see the flood, this has never happened to me since 2019 I moved in to this area.
"The area is a low land, the water is coming from the town and that's the situation we found ourselves.
"You can see my car parked outside, I can't bring it inside, look at my son distressed, the flood had taken over the entire house, I just need to relocate my family now
"Many of our properties have been affected, this is my life and the situation I found myself", he lamented.
Residents in the affected area also appealed to the government to provide a lasting solution to recurring flooding, including improved drainage infrastructure and other flood-control measures to protect lives and property.
