Ogun Baptist Conference Announces Rev Dr Olatunbosun As New Chairman, Rev Dr Ajayi Bows Out In 2026

The Executive Committee of the Ogun Baptist Conference of the Nigerian Baptist Convention has approved the nomination of Rev Dr Timothy Olatunbosun as it's new Conference Chairman.

The nomination of Olatunbosun of Ibara Baptist Church, Abeokuta, was approved by the committee alongside two other officers to assume key leadership positions in the Conference as from January 2027.

The other two approved nominees are Revd. Dr. Paul Afolabi of Oke-Odan, as First Vice-Chairman while Deaconess Adebayo Bukola of Ijebu-Ife, was appointed as Second Vice-Chairman.

The decision was reached during an emergency virtual meeting of the Executive Committee held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, presided over by Rev Dr Oyewale Oyeniyi, to consider the report of the Conference Nominating Committee.

Outgoing Conference Chairman, Prof. Biola Ajayi, announced the new officers following the approval by the Executive Committee during the meeting.

Prof. Ajayi explained that the selection is for the office of Conference Chairman, First Vice-Chairman, and Second Vice-Chairman.

The Cleric and Scholar added that the current officers holding the positions will complete their two term tenures at the end of 2026.

According to him, the new officers will be presented during the forthcoming Zonal Conference sessions, where they will be ratified by delegates.

"The nominees will officially assume office in January 2027, subject to ratification during the forthcoming Zonal Conference sessions.

"The leadership transition is part of the Conference's established succession process, ensuring continuity in the administration and mission of the Ogun Baptist Conference of the Nigerian Baptist Convention", he concluded.
