Igangan Education Summit Committee Rewards Top 2026 UTME Candidates, Fulfils Scholarship Pledges
The Igangan Education Summit Committee has fulfilled its commitment to reward outstanding candidates from the community who excelled in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), reaffirming its dedication to promoting academic excellence.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Committee said the initiative followed its earlier publication of May 20, 2026, which announced plans to recognize exceptional UTME candidates after the completion of its data collation exercise.
Spokesman of the Committee, Seyi Ipadeola, who made this known to newsmen, said the highest-scoring candidate received a cash award of ₦20,000, while the second and third highest-scoring candidates were presented with ₦15,000 and ₦10,000, respectively.
The Committee also disclosed that its Chairman, Mr. Ogungbenro Jamiyu Adisa, fulfilled a personal commitment by paying the ₦6,000 Post-UTME application fee for the overall best-performing candidate, who scored 282 in the 2026 UTME and is seeking admission to study Nursing at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
In addition, Mr. Sangotikun Sola donated ₦5,000 to support the student's academic pursuit.
The Committee described the financial support as part of its broader efforts to encourage academic excellence and inspire more young people in Igangan to pursue higher education with commitment and determination.
It also expressed appreciation to individuals and supporters whose contributions made the initiative successful, urging well-meaning sons and daughters of Igangan, as well as community groups, to continue investing in educational development.
The Committee congratulated all the award recipients and other candidates from the community, wishing them success in their forthcoming Post-UTME examinations and admission processes.
It reaffirmed its commitment to providing mentorship, guidance, and support aimed at increasing the number of students from Igangan who gain admission into tertiary institutions.
The statement concluded with a call for sustained community collaboration, stressing that collective efforts remain essential to building a more educated and prosperous Igangan.
