Ogun APC Chieftain, Damilare Abioro, Mourns Passing Of Onipokia Of Ipokia, Oba Olaniyan
A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ogun State, Abioro Damilare Athande, has expressed grief over the death of the Onipokia of Ipokia Kingdom, Oba Yisa Sola Adeniyi Olaniyan, Orijajoogun I.
Oba Olaniyan, the 46th Onipokia, died in the United States after a brief illness. He ascended the throne in August 2020.
Abioro, in a condolence message he personally signed, described the late monarch’s passing as “a great loss to Ipokia Kingdom, Egbado land, and Ogun State at large.”
The Agosasa born politician noted that Oba Olaniyan’s reign, though brief, was impactful.
“The late Onipokia was a monarch who brought a global perspective to the throne. His commitment to preserving Ipokia’s cultural heritage, promoting education and youth empowerment, and strengthening ties with the diaspora will be sorely missed,” Abioro said.
The APC chieftain recalled the monarch’s background before ascending the throne, stating: “Before becoming king, Kabiyesi had a successful professional career and had done tremendous things for the Ipokia community and it's sons and daughters both home and in diaspora.
Abioro commiserated with the Olaniyan Royal Family, the Ipokia Traditional Council, and all sons and daughters of Ipokia at home and in the diaspora.
“I pray that Almighty God will grant the departed monarch eternal rest, and give the entire Ipokia Kingdom the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss,” he added.
