Force Headquarters Hints On Abducted School Children, Teachers Rescue Soon
Force Headquarters
has hinted of the possibility of securing the release of school children and
their teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Recalled that
the armed bandit had last May 17 abducted 39 school children and seven teachers
from three schools in the area.
Deputy
Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Southwest zone, DIG Adegoke
Fayoade, gave the hint during a visit to the Lagos State Police Command as part
of his operational tour of the Southwest zone ordered by the Inspector General
of Police (IGP) Olatunji Disu
Fayoade assured
that the freedom of the victims from the custody of their abductors was
imminent.
The Deputy
Inspector-General of Police explained that all the security agencies are
working to secure their release.
“All
agencies, including government, are working very hard, and I can assure you
that within the shortest possible time, the children and their teachers will be
free,” he said.
It will be
recalled that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state had said that the bandits are
still with the victims within the forest located in the Oyo National Park.

also reliably gathered that the troops had blocked all the exit routes of the armed
bandits in the forest.
The
abduction had witnessed several protests from Nigerians, including notable
individuals, especially politicians who had demanded the immediate rescue of
the abducted pupils and their teachers.
