2027: Makinde To Name Successor On April 8

 

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is set to announced his preferred candidate to succeed him at the expiration of his two term tenure in office on may 29, 2027.

According to the governor, the identity of his successor will be announced on Wednesday, April 8.

Makinde, who made this known at an event in Ibadan, the state capital, said the candidate will emerge through consensus.

The governor explained that his administration has engaged credible individuals as part of a deliberate transition process for the selection process in 2027.

He added that the eventual candidate who reflects both the progress made by his administration and how to secure the future of the state will be chosen.  

According to him, all aspirants will be given the opportunity to showcase their plans and ideas while ensuring a level playing field.

Makinde, however, said he is aware that residents in the state are watching very closely about the next dispensation.

“I am also aware that many of you are watching closely as we approach a transition period in Oyo State. And that you have questions about continuity, leadership, and the future direction of our state.”
