FMC Abeokuta HOD Nursing, Fagoyinbo Warns Against Media Trial, Insists No Verbal, Physical Abuse Of Nurse
The Director of Nursing Services at Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, the state capital, Nurse Abosede Fagoyinbo, has insisted that no Nurse is verbally or physically assaulted in the hospital as being speculated in some quarters.
The clarification followed the alleged verbal altercation and assault involving her and the Chief Nursing Officer in the Nursing Services Department, Nurse Odusola.
Fagoyinbo, in a response to the allegations made against her by the Elegant Nurses Forum and Ogun State Nurse Association, described the ugly trend as disheartening and unfortunate.
The Director of Nursing Services explained that the alleged incident never resulted in a personal attack but purely the outcome of a meeting attended by senior nurses including the alleged victim.
She added that the allegations and the ongoing social media war are deliberate attempts to change the focus of the topic which center on her negligence of duty that resulted in issuing her and her junior a query.
According to her, the Chief Nursing Officer instead of exploring the internal administrative dispute resolution mechanism available to all public servants, she chose to embark on cheap social media blackmail, character assassination and defamation.
"I categorically deny the allegations and state that I did not engage in any form of verbal altercation, nor did I assault Mrs. Odusola as alleged.
"She in company of her daughter walked on her legs to submit some documents to me in my office on Thursday January 22, How come the Elegant and Ogun State Nurses are helping to propagate fabricated lies
"I am committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and decorum expected of my position as Director of Nursing Services.
"To the best of my knowledge, there was no incident that could have portrayed the hospital in a negative light, and I am deeply concerned. That the Chief Nursing Officer, Mrs Odusola rather than explore internal administrative dispute resolution remedy available to all public servants, choose to embark on cheap social media blackmail, character assassination and defamation.
"Thereby throwing caution to the wind and sacrificing my hard earned reputation and that of our work place for her selfish interest.
"It is disheartening that such a report has been circulated without proper verification.
"The said allegations were clearly born out of malice as can be seen that she holds grudges against me owing to her mistaken believe that I hated her.
"In a bid to change and divert management’s attention from her negligence of duty, she contacted bloggers and social media influencers to blackmail me and assassinate my character thereby dragging the hospital along with my name.
"I respectfully request that a thorough and impartial investigation be conducted to ascertain the facts surrounding this matter
Fagoyinbo asked the management to caution Odusola against the media trial, blackmail and harassment with security agencies instead of allowing the panel set up to investigate the matter and make its report public.
She, however, warned the Elegant Nurses Forum and Ogun State Nurses Association to desist from making unfounded allegations about her as regards the incident or face legal actions.
