Asigangan, Residents Appreciate Tinubu Over Igboho Freedom, Removal From Wanted List
Asigangan of Iganganland, Oba Abdulrafiu Olaniyi Adeniyi Ariwoola (Aako II) and the indigenes of Igangan Community in Ibarapa area of Oyo state have commended President Bola Tinubu for the removal of the wanted tag placed on Yoruba Nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.
The immediate past minister of justice, Abubakar Malami, had placed Igboho on a wanted list after he managed to escape during the clash with operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) who invaded his Ibadan residence during the administration of the late President Muhammadu Buhari.
Oba Ariwoola, in an appreciation message jointly signed by the Chairman of Igangan Community Development Association, Comrade Joseph Ojewola and Secretary, Comrade Isau Ayandele, said the removal of wanted tag on Igboho is of national interest.
Asigangan while appreciating the traditional rulers who waded into the matter to plead on his behalf before Tinubu, explained that Igboho has been helpful for the troubled communities facing the security challenges from the armed bandits who had infiltrated so many parts of Yorubaland, killing, maiming and as committing several atrocities freely.
According to the monarch, the timely intervention of Igboho has liberated several communities including Igangan where normalcy had since been restored and the people can now access their farmlands, women are no longer being raped or assaulted while the businessmen are free from cases of kidnapping.
“Chief Sunday Adeyemo has singlehandedly liberated several communities which had been under the siege of killer herders in the past through his commitment to the campaign against the robbery, killing, and kidnapping of Yoruba sons and daughters, among others.
“Despite this noble and selfless intervention, he had faced several consequences which include the invasion of his Ibadan residence by the operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) where some lives were lost and his eventual exile in the neighboring Benin Republic where he was put in custody for several months.
“Also, the wanted tag was placed on him while his bank accounts were frozen indefinitely, whereas no tangible crime or allegation has been leveled against him.
“In the face of the adversaries, several Court of Competent jurisdictions had made pronouncements on the case in favour of Chief Sunday Adeyemo alias Igboho yet he has not been set free or the toga of wanted placed on him be removed
“But now, our joy knows no bounds our father, President Bola Tinubu, finally granted our wish of lifting every embargo placed on the messiah of the masses, especially the hapless and helpless poor who he had liberated from their monstrous tormentors and killers.
Oba Ariwoola assured Igboho of continued support by the entire Yorubaland over his special interest in the safety and security of the masses , especially those residing in the agrarian communities.
