PDP Suspends Anyanwu, Others After Court Stops National Convention

The political crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has further deepened following the decision of the National Working Committee (NWC) to suspend some notable top officials of the Party.

The suspension is coming after an Abuja Federal High Court halted the party’s planned national convention scheduled for November 15 and 16.

The suspended officers are National Secretary of the party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade; Deputy Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha; and National Organizing Secretary, Umaru Bature.

PDP Spokesman, Debo Ologunagba, who announced the suspension at a news conference at Party Secretariat in Abuja, said the sanction is for one month.

Ologunagba explained that the decision followed an emergency NWC meeting held on Saturday, at the party’s office, Legacy House in Abuja.

“The NWC, in line with the party’s constitution, came to the following conclusion: the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN; Deputy Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha; National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; and National Organizing Secretary have been suspended for one month and referred to the PDP Disciplinary Committee,” he said.
