National Vice President of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria,
Alhaji Teslim Adediran, has again advocated for the establishment of Sharia
Panel in the South West.
According to him, Sharia panel remained the best alternative
dispute resolution mechanism.
Adediran who made the call while addressing newsmen in Oyo town,
said the religious court will further promote peace among the disputed parties.
The National Vice President explained that there are many
misunderstanding about the concept of Sharia Court and its ability to settle
disputes without form of punitive consequences as being speculated in some quarters.
He added that the panel instead will ensure matters are resolved
amicably and as well reunite the two parties involved.
“Sharia court is not bad as being speculated that it involves
cutting hands or head instead, the court will rather promote peace in our
society
“We have many evidences to back our claim that Sharia will
reduce burden on our customary courts, as sharia panel will resolve the dispute
as soon as possible and as well ensure that both parties united again
“We Muslims want Sharia court in the South West and we appealed
to our government to give us the chance to operate the court.
Adediran, however, expressed concerns over the rising cases of
verbal attacks and fights among the Muslim Cleric and Scholars, especially on
social media.
According to him, such ugly trend is becoming worrisome and
alarming, as the religious leaders had abandoned their core duties of teaching
the tenets of Islam instead they are now confusing their followers.
He appealed to them to always resolve their differences using
the internal mechanisms stated in Islam in order to promote the religious as of
peace.
