Alaafin Commissions Oyo Agro Rangers Official Quarters, Asks Residents To Support Oyo Developmental Drive

 

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade, has called on the well-to-do sons and daughters, as well as philanthropists in the town to support his developmental drive for the town.

According to the top traditional ruler, Oyo metropolis is open for developmental projects, initiatives and investments.

Oba Owoade, who made the call during the commissioning of Oyo NSCDC Agro Ranger Official Quarters, said he will welcome both the indigene and non-indigene with developmental agenda for the benefits of the town.

The Khaadimul Muslimeen of Oyo Kingdom, Imam Daud Igiogun, who facilitated the project alongside the four council Chairmen of Oyo East, Oyo West, Atiba and Afijio Local Government Areas assured of more people centered projects and programmes 

"In the process, with the collaboration with some helpful stakeholders and the current four local government chairmen in Oyo, we were able to renovate and build a very accommodating quarters for our officers as requested with sum of 23 million, the four Chalmen donated 4 million each while 1 added 7 million to complete the budget

"Permit me to inform you that the officers that we have in Oyo have been up and doing. They are diligent in their duties and up to the task.

"They settle herders/farmers' disputes without being bias, protect agro-allied investments and ensure the security of agricultural communities and as well work with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to achieve their objectives, etc", Igiogun concluded.

The local government chairmen who are the facilitators, assured of more people centered projects and programmes.

Speaking on behalf of the council Chairmen, Executive Chairman of Oyo West Local Government, Prince Salami Babatunde Akeem (Olukitibi), described the achievement as remarkable and historic.

"The Agro Rangers unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has, over time, distinguished itself as a vital force in ensuring peace and stability in agrarian communities. Their dedication to protecting farmers, preventing herder-farmer conflicts, combating kidnapping and responding swiftly to all manners of threats affecting food production has brought them into the heart of our developmental conversation.

"For us in the Oyo Zone, agriculture is not just an occupation-it is our heritage, our livelihood, and the backbone of our local economy. That is why the presence of the Agro Rangers, and now the establishment of their official quarters within our zone, is not just welcomed; it is celebrated. This

"The project commenced during Omituntun 1.0 under the leadership of the builder of the cosmopolitan Oyo State, His Excellency, (Engr) Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, FNSE with the construction of the Administrative office of the Agro Ranger, Oyo Zone. The building I am talking about is still standing right behind us and still in use till today, then this monumental official quarters we are commissioning today during Omituntun 2.0 agenda of His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde is to provide a relaxed atmosphere for our gallant officers of Agro Rangers after their day's work

"On behalf of my brother chairmen and the good People of the Oyo Zone, I extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Federal Government, the leadership of the NSCDC, the Oyo State Government, and all stakeholders who have contributed to making this project a reality. We assure you of our continued support, cooperation, and collaboration to ensure the sustainability of this investment We understand that security is not a task for one body alone-it is a collective responsibility. And we, as chairmen of the four local government, stand ready to play our part", Olukitibi said.

NSCDC State Commandant, Augustine Padonu, said the project will assist the agro rangers to ensure safety and food security

House of Representatives members representing Oyo federal constituency, Hon Akeem Adeyemi and the State House of Assembly member, Cephas Olorunpoto commended the facilitators while promising to also continue giving their supports for the masses.
