Protest: Police fire tear gas against protesters in Port Harcourt

 

The nationwide protest against the alleged misused of cyber security law and declaration of State of Emergency in Rivers State.

The protesters converged at various locations despite the calls from the Police that the organizers should shelve the planned protest.

While the protest has been largely peaceful there was a face off between the security operatives and the protesters in Port Harcourt.

The operatives fired teargas at protesters who had converged at the Isaac Boro Park when the officers stormed the area.

Elsewhere, especially in Abuja and Lagos, the protesters were greeted by heavy police presence when they gathered at the protest venue as early as 9:00 am.
