Ekiti man bags 84 years jail term for rape, attempted murder, robbery, others
An Ado Ekiti High Court has sentenced 33-year-old, identified as Oluwatuyi Bidemi, to 84 years imprisonment for robbery, attempted murder and others.
The convict was arraigned on 21 July 2021 on four-count charges of attempted murder, robbery, kidnapping and rape.
The prosecutor, Oluwaseun Olasanmi, had told the Court that the convict had on 7th July 2021 at Omuo Ekiti within the jurisdiction of the court attempted to murder one Abiodun Agnes, and also rob her of her phone, charger, wristwatch, ATM cards and others.
Olasanmi added that Oluwatuyi also on the same date and place did kidnap and rape the victim.
According to him, the convict held the victim's neck until she became unconscious and raped her while he also shaved her armpit and private part hairs.
He said the victim was rescued by some passersby who rushed her to the nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Justice Adeniyi Familoni, in his judgement, said the prosecution has proved the offences of attempted murder, robbery, kidnapping and rape against the convict beyond reasonable doubt.
Justice Familoni, however, sentenced to 21 years imprisonment on each of the four counts without the option of fine.
The Judge said the sentences are to run concurrently with effect from the date of arrest and detention.
