Teenage girl commits suicide in Gombe State

 

A 16-year-old girl, identified as Maryam Samuel, has committed suicide on Gombe State.

The teenage girl was found dead after allegedly taking her own life by hanging on a tree located at Kalarin Mountain area of the state.

Spokesman of the state Police command,DSP Buhari Abdullahi, who Confirmed the incident to newsmen, said the lifeless body of the teenager was discovered dangling on the tree during the early hours of Friday.

Abdullahi explained that there were no signs of violence on the body when the police team visited the scene of he accident.

He added that the body was later moved to the General Hospital, Kaltungo.

According to preliminary investigations, Samuel had left home on March 13 to fetch firewood from a nearby bush but never returned.

“On March 14, 2025, at about 9 am, a case of suicide was reported at Kaltungo Divisional Headquarters.

“The deceased, Maryam Samuel, a 16-year-old girl from Kalarin Ward, was found hanging with a rope on a tree,” Abdullahi stated.

 “Family members were invited, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding her death”, Abdullahi added.
