Rivers Head of Service, Nwaeke, resigns from office

 

The Rivers State Head of Civil Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, has resigned from office.

Nwaeke’s resignation comes just one week after President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, suspending Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his Deputy, Ngozi Ordu and all members of the State Assembly. 

Sole Administrator, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, who announced the resignation in a statement by his Chief of Staff, said Dr. (Mrs.) Iyingi Brown, has been appointed as the acting Head of Civil Service in the state.

According to him, Iyingi was the Permanent Secretary for Welfare in the Office of the Head of Service before her appointment.

He explained that she be performing her role in an acting capacity until a substantive Head of Service is named.

The Sole administrator expressed appreciation for Nwaeke’s contributions to the administration in the few days he served, and wished him success in his future endeavors.

Ibadan while congratulating Brown on her appointment, reaffirmed his commitment to neutrality, peace, and stability in Rivers State.
