Ogun okada rider crushes pedestrian to death in Abeokuta

 

A commercial motorcyclist, identified as Kabiru Sanmi, has crushed a yet-to-be identified female pedestrian to death in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital.

The tragic incident which occurred on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at about 7:00 PM, along Lafenwa Road in the metropolis, involved a motorcycle marked GBE 566 VC.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said the name, age, and address of the victim remained unknown.

Odutola explained that the deceased female pedestrian was knocked down while crossing the road due to the reckless riding of the motorcyclist.

She added that the victim sustained a severe head injury and was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi Aba, Abeokuta, where she passed away while receiving medical treatment.

According to her, the deceased’s body has been deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation and identification.

Odutola said the reckless motorcyclist has been detained, and the Motor Traffic Division (MTD) is conducting further investigations.
