Four die in renewed cult clashes in Abeokuta
No fewer than four persons have again lost their lives in the renewed cult clashes in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital.
The attacks which occurred along Alogi, Somorin and Obantoko areas of the metropolis also saw some of the custists sustained gunshots injuries.
NEWSREPORTER gathered that the incident is reprisal attacks between the rival cult groups, Aiye and Eiye Confraternity groups.
The two deadly groups had been engaged in supremacy battles, leading to loss of lives and property in the city and by extension to other major towns in the state, especially Sagamu and Ijebu axis.
Also, the cult clashes had also been recorded in Ifo, Sango, Ota, Itoko and Agbado, among other areas in the state.
During the recent clashes which occurred over the weekend, NEWSREPORTER gathered that the cultists had stormed the areas, shooting sporadically.
According to the eyewitness, the ugly development paralyzed commercial and social activities, as business owners hurriedly shut their shops and offices while scampered for safety.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, Omolola Odutola, however, silence on the details of the attacks.
