Explosion rocks Trans-Niger Pipeline in Rivers State

 


An explosion has rocked the Trans-Niger Pipeline in Rivers State.

The incident is coming amidst the political crisis rocking the state between the State Assembly and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The Lawmakers had on Monday commenced impeachment process against the Governor.

Recalls a group of militants in the state had threatened to resumed attacks on national economic assets, especially the oil installations in the state of any attempt is made to remove the governor.

However, The explosion occurred late on Monday night near the Bodo-Bonny Road under construction at Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area of the State.

The affected section of the major pipeline is currently on fire.

The details of exact cause of the explosion is still sketchy.
