The Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, Comrade Bunmi Adigun, has pen his heartfelt congratulatory message for the Kurùnmí of Ìjàyè-Ègbáland, Aare (Prof.) Láí Lábodé, on the occasion of his first anniversary on the throne.
According to him, the milestone is not only a celebration of one year of leadership but also a testament to purposeful service to the community, Egbaland and globally.
Adigun, in a statement he personally signed, described Kurunmi of Ijaye-Egbaland, as a visionary leader with unwavering commitment to the progress of our community.
Speaking as both the NUJ Secretary and a proud son of Ìjàyè with deep ancestral roots from both the Oladosu Compound on his paternal side and the Anigbio Compound on my maternal side, he explained that the town had seen visible change under the warrior's reign.
“In just one year, Your touch redefined traditional leadership through remarkable transformation, unity, and development,” he stated.
According to him, Ìjàyè has witnessed “renewed hope, greater visibility, and a resurgence of pride among its sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora” since Prof. Lábodé ascended the throne.
“Your reign has elevated the status of our ancient town, placing the name of Ìjàyè far beyond where you met it and positioning it as a community of excellence and promise,” the NUJ scribe said.
Adigun noted that Labode’s style of leadership had endeared him to the people of Egbaland and beyond.
“As someone whose paternal and maternal heritage is firmly rooted in Ìjàyè, I have watched with immense pride as your administration continues to inspire confidence and attract meaningful development,” he said.
“Your accessibility, wisdom, and dedication to preserving our rich cultural heritage while embracing modern progress have endeared you to the people and earned you widespread respect across Egbaland and beyond.”
The NUJ scribe also commended the Kurùnmí for upholding values important to the media.
“As journalists, we appreciate leaders who understand the importance of truth, dialogue, and community engagement. Your reign has reflected these values, fostering peace, inclusiveness, and a sense of belonging among all sons and daughters of Ìjàyè,” he said.
Adigun prayed for the warrior’s continued reign and the prosperity of Ìjàyè-Ègbáland.
“May your palace continue to be a beacon of justice, unity, and enduring prosperity for generations to come,” he said.
“Congratulations once again, on this memorable first anniversary. May the Almighty grant you sound health, divine wisdom, long life, and many more fruitful years. May your reign continue to usher in greater peace, unprecedented development, and lasting glory for Ìjàyè-Ègbáland.”
