AFOTAMODI to drive development, investment in Isara — Sonupe
The Chairman of the Planning Committee for the 57th AFOTAMODI Festival, Eric Ola-Animashaun Sonupe, has said this year’s edition of the annual cultural festival will serve as a catalyst for development and investment in Isara-Remo, Ogun State.
Sonupe stated this during the inauguration of the festival planning committee by the Odemo of Isara-Remo, Oba Peter Oluwole Ogunbayo (Otete III).
According to him, the committee is determined to leverage the festival to showcase the economic potential, cultural heritage and human resources of the ancient town to prospective investors and development partners.
He said, “AFOTAMODI is not just a festival. It is an opportunity to tell the Isara story, promote our rich cultural heritage and project the town as a viable destination for investment and economic growth.
“We want to use the festival to showcase the enormous potential that exists in Isara. Our goal is to attract investors, stimulate economic activities and create opportunities for our youths.”
The committee chairman disclosed that a fundraising target of N500 million had been set to support the execution of various projects and activities planned for the festival.
He explained that part of the funds would be deployed towards the renovation and modernization of the Odemo’s Palace, while other initiatives would focus on promoting tourism, community development and youth empowerment.
Sonupe noted that the festival would feature cultural displays, sporting competitions, educational programmes, medical outreach, arts and crafts exhibitions, fashion shows, religious activities and musical performances by leading artistes.
He also assured residents and visitors of adequate security throughout the celebration, stressing that the committee would work closely with security agencies, including the police, military, Amotekun Corps and local vigilante groups.
Earlier, Oba Ogunbayo charged members of the committee to justify the confidence reposed in them by ensuring a successful festival that would further unite the people and advance the development of Isara-Remo.
The monarch reiterated his commitment to the growth of the town, assuring residents that his administration would continue to support initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, promoting economic prosperity and enhancing the welfare of the people.
AFOTAMODI is one of the foremost cultural festivals in Remoland and attracts indigenes, tourists and stakeholders from across Nigeria and beyond.
