PDP: Political Thugs Distrupt Congresses In Oyo State, Attack Gbolarumi House In Ibadan

 

Suspected political thugs have launched coordinated attacks on local government congresses organised by a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

The violence which erupted across parts of the State, especially in the metropolis on Saturday left several party members injured while property worth millions of naira were destroyed during the mayhem.

Notable among the attacks is the invasion of Ibadan residence of former deputy governor, Hazeem Gbolarumi, by suspected political thugs who destroyed property, especially the vehicles parked within the compound and the aluminum windows.

The hoodlums in their numbers pelted the building with several dangerous weapons such as stones and bottles.

The ugly development has further heightened the political tension within the party ahead of the 2027 general polls in the pacesetter state.

Although details of the attack is still sketchy but sources close to the former deputy governor said he and his aides narrowly escaped the invasion.

At the congress venues, the hoodlums assaulted the participants and vandalized several vehicles while the exercise was also disrupted.
