RAMADAN/LENT: Itori DPO, CSP Ojekunle, Asks Christains, Muslims To Sustain Peace Message, Religous Harmony

  

The Itori Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Dapo Ojekunle, has asked Christian and Muslim faithful in Ogun State, especially those residing in Itori Divisional Area, to align their faith together in praying for the the state.

According to the police chief, adherents of both faiths must sustain the message of peace by showing values of love, forgiveness, and tolerance among each other.

Ojekiunle, in his message signed and issued to newsmen, said the holy months of Lent and Ramadan are a period of prayer, fasting, and repentance.

“As we enter the sacred season where Ramadan fasting and Lenten observances overlap, I extend my warm greetings to all Muslim and Christian faithful in our division. This unique, holy time provides a golden opportunity for us to strengthen our bonds of brotherhood, foster mutual respect, and deepen interfaith understanding. 

 “It’s a time for Christians to reflect on their mortality, sinfulness and need for salvation while Ramadan is a sacred month of fasting and spiritual growth for Muslims, as both periods share common themes of repentance, self-reflection, and spiritual growth.

The DPO, however, said that measures have been put in place to ensure a peaceful and secure environment during the Lenten season and Ramadan, including the deployment of personnel and logistics to strategic locations, flashpoints and vulnerable spots to enhance visibility policing and prevent criminal activities.

“Patrol operations have been deployed across the division to strengthen security and ensure a peaceful and secure environment for all during the ongoing Lenten season and the holy month of Ramadan.

“Proactive policing and sustained patrols will deter criminal elements seeking to exploit the festive period.

Ojekunle while asking the residents to support security agencies with timely, useful and accurate information, also encouraged the community and religious leaders, as well as every stakeholder to remain vigilant and cooperative.
