Over One Million Apply For Student Loan, As NELFUND Disburses ₦116 Billion

No fewer than one million students from public tertiary institutions nationwide have applied for students.

The figure, according to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), was recorded since the establishment of the scheme on May 24, 2024.

NELFUND Spokesman, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, who gave the statistics, described the feat as an incredible achievement that reveals the enormous impact of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda

Oluwatuyi explained that the sum of ₦116 Billion has been released to the students since the program started.

He added that the figure covered both institutional fees and upkeep allowances to students across universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

According to him, the record has shown a major milestone in Tinubu's administration in its bid to give every Nigerian access to education funding without discrimination.

“Every qualified Nigerian student, regardless of background or location, can access education funding with transparency, efficiency, and dignity.”

“No Nigerian should be denied the opportunity to learn, grow or contribute to national progress because of financial limitations.

NELFUND recalls that their commitment is ensuring improvement to make sure the process is easier for applied candidates.
