Two Die, Nine Injure In Fatal Autocrash Along Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway
Two persons have lost their lives in a fatal autocrash along
Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Ogun State.
Nine others were also injured during the multiple accidents which
occurred at Tipper Garage involving a truck marked JJJ 144 XD, a commercial bus
marked EPE 394 XP, and a tricycle marked DGB 599 VC.
Area Commander of Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement
Corps (TRACE), Adekunle Ajibade, who confirmed the accident to newsmen, said
the victims died on the spot.
Ajibade explained that the truck was parked on a slope at
the entrance of a warehouse opposite Tipper Garage, leaving the engine running
while the handbrake was applied by the driver.
He added that the driver exited the truck to deliver a
waybill to security guards at the gate of the warehouse.
Ajibade said the truck eventually reversed onto the
expressway after the handbrake disengaged, causing the accident that led to the
death of two people and injuries to nine others, while three were unhurt.
According to him, the bodies of the dead victims had been
deposited in the morgue of Ifo General Hospital while the injured victims are
also receiving treatment in the same hospital.
