Ogun NNPP Mourns Awujale, Commiserates Abiodun, Ijebu People
The Ogun State Chapter of New Nigeria People's Party NNPP under the leadership of Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam and State Chairmanship of Chief Gabriel Somoye has commiserated with Governor Dapo Abiodun and the good people of Ijebu land over the passing of Late Awujale Of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona.
The longest ruling monarch in Ogun State joined his ancestors on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at a private hospital in Lagos at the age of 91.
Party's State Secretary, Hon. Mrs Senami Agboyinu Wheto, in a condolences message to the Akile Ijebu descendants home and abroad, described the death of the revered monarch as great loss to Ijebuland, Ogun State and Nigeria at large.
"Nevertheless, the good people of Ijebu land and the entire Ogun and Yoruba in general should be grateful to God for the life and times of Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona .
" It was a life well spent , Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona reign was peaceful for almost six decades on the throne "
She, however, said the NNPP in Ogun State lamented that the father figure roles and logical interventions of the late Awujale shall be felt by the Ogun State government and the entire Yoruba race.
Wheto prayed that God shall give the government of Ogun State and the good people of Ijebu land the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
