Again, Ogun Govt Summon Labour Leaders To Meeting Over Strike
Ogun state government has again summoned another round of
crucial meeting with the leadership of organized labour over the ongoing
industrial action embarked upon.
The workers on the payroll of both the state and local
government had embarked on the strike in the past three days to compeled the
government to meet their outstanding demands.
NEWSREPORTER which has been monitoring the development,
gathered the Thursday meeting is coming after the initial meeting ended in
deadlock.
Workers are demanding for the cancellation of a
controversial Contributory pension scheme, inadequate basic salary and new
minimum wage implementation and unpaid gratuity, among others.
The organized labour team is headed by the state’s chairman
of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Hameed Ademola-Benco and his
Trade Union Congress (TUC) counterpart, Comrade Akeem Lasisi while the
government team is headed by the Secretary to the state government, Tokunbo
Talabi and Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya, among othet top officials.
The strike had crippled the activities in all the public
institutions such as schools, hospitals, courts, secretariats, among others.
