Hajj 2025: NAHCON puts Nigerian Pilgrims Death Toll At Seven
The death toll among Nigerian Pilgrims during the just
concluded Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia has increased to seven.
This is coming after National Hajj Commission of Nigeria
(NAHCON) announced the conclusion of the spiritual exercise.
According to the commission, the Nigerian Pilgrims are
scheduled June 9 for the commencement of return flights for Nigerian pilgrims.
NAHCON, in its update, said the seven deceased pilgrims died
buried in Saudi Arabia according to Islamic rites.
The commission explained that the victims died as a result of
the health complications with doctors in Saudi Arabia linking their deaths to
cardiac arrest and heart failure.
It added that the deceased pilgrims are from Oyo, Abia, Edo,
Plateau, and Kano states.
According to it, the number of deaths in the 2025 Hajj was fewer
compared to the 2024 record, as no fewer than 30 Nigerians died during the
exercise.
NAHCON, however, said some of the pilgrims expressed joy for
the opportunity to perform the sacred rites.
