2027: ADA Registration Suffers glitch, As INEC Says Coalition Yet To Meet Requirements

All Democratic Alliance (ADA) being proposed as a new political front by the Nigerian National Coalition Group (NNCG) has suffered a glitch ahead of the 2027 general polls in the country.

The proposed party, a growing anti-Tinubu coalition is being floated by the notable political heavyweights such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former governors Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State and Dr. Umar Ardo, convener of the League of Northern Democrats, among others.

After months of internal deliberation, the NNCG had on June 19, 2025, formally applied to INEC to register ADA as a political party, the application which was received by INEC on June 20.

But, in a twist of the development, The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared that the proposed political party being sponsored by the coalition against the ruling All Progressive Congress ahead of 2027 polls cannot be registered at the moment.

INEC’s Spokesman, Mr. Sam Olumekun, who made this known while speaking with newsmen in Abuja, said the application is yet to meet requirement.

Olumekun explained that there are several letters of intent before the electoral ahead of the 2027 general polls seeking registration as political parties.

The INEC National Commissioner added that none has met requirements to proceed for formal registration application.

According to him, the intents must meet the criteria before being considered for registration as political parties by the commission.

“The truth is that we have so many letters of intent presently and none of them is an application yet. They must first meet the criteria before submitting a letter of intent,” Olumekun said.
