Seven die, four injured along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

A total of seven persons have lost their lives in a fatal autocrash along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ogun State.

Four persons were also injured during the incident involving a Mack truck marked SEY 363 YY, a tanker marked T2900LA and a bus marked LSD 180 YA. 

Spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun Sector Command, Florence Okpe, who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta, the state capital, said the victims died on the spot.

Okpe attributed the cause of the crash to excessive speed on the part of the truck driver.

She explained that the truck lost control and rammed into the other two vehicles.

“A total of 15 people were involved which comprised of thirteen male adults and two female adults, that is three male adults and one female adult, while seven people were recorded dead from the multiple crash (six male adults and one female adult).

“ The suspected cause of the multiple crash was excessive speed on the part of the Mack truck which led to loss of control and rammed into the other two vehicles”

According to her, the injured victims were taken to Divine Touch Hospital and Glory Center Hospital Ibafo, while the bodies of the dead victims had been deposited at Idera morgue Sagamu.

Meanwhile, The Sector Commander, Fasakin Akinwumi, on visiting the scene of the accident, sympathized with the families of the crash victims and enjoined them to contact FRSC IBAFO for more information.
