Retired Policeman commits suicide after killing three family members in Lagos

A yet-to-be identified retired Police officer has shot dead three family members in Badagry area of Lagos State.

The deceased victims were identified as Richard Atideka and Latevi Atideka, both from the Yovoyan community and Muji Onilude from the neighbouring Gberefu community.

Sources said the policeman alongside some unidentified assailants armed with dangerous weapons stormed the premises of Richard and Levi at midnight, went into their rooms and shot them in the process.

According to them, they also proceeded to Onilude apartment where they shot him dead upon arrival.

The cause of the incident is still sketchy but may not be unconnected with land dispute among the family members.

Hundeyin explained that the deceased suspect drank a poisonous substance suspected to be insecticide and became unconscious.

He added that he was rushed to nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead by the medical doctor on duty.

According to him, the bodies of the three victims, as well as the suspect had been deposited in the morgue
