Groom, three friends in police net over wife's death during marathon sex

A 20-year-old groom, identified as Auwal Abdulwahab, is now in police net for allegedly coercing his bride into non-consensual sexual activity.

The groom was arrested alongside with his three friends over the incident which occurred at Tungo village, Albasu District in Sule Tankarkar local Government Area of the State.

Spokesman of the State Police command, Lawan Shiisu Adam, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said the suspects are currently in custody undergoing interrogation.

Shiisu explained that the newly married man is suspected of orchestrating an incident against his wife within days of their wedding.

“the groom is alleged to have conspired with his three friends namely Nura Basiru, Muttaka Lawan and Hamisu Musa, entered into their matrimonial home with the intention of coercing his bride into non-consensual sexual activity, while in the process, the said wife died.”

He said preliminary investigation revealed that the bride had reportedly disagreed with her husband on marital relations until their wedding.

Shiisu said upon receipt of the report, team of policemen rushed to the scene and the body was evacuated to Gumel General Hospital for medical examination and the doctor on call confirmed her death.

He said the corpse was released to her parents for burial, while the four suspects involved have been apprehended and taken into custody for discreet investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Police Command, CP AT Abdullahi, has directed that the case be immediately transferred to the State CID Dutse for a discreet investigation.

“After the investigation is completed, all suspects will be prosecuted accordingly.

The suspects will face two charges under relevant laws of the jurisdiction, including criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide,” he said
