Bus crushes Pregnant woman, four others to death in Yobe
Five persons including a pregnant woman, have lost their lives in a fatal autocrash in Yobe state.
19 others were also injured when an 18-seater commercial Bus
marked KTG 283 XA rammed into the passersby at the ever busy Damagum market in the
State.
State’s Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps,
Livinus Yilzoom, who confirmed the tragic incident to newsmen in Damaturu, the
state capital, said the pedestrian victims were closing from the market when
the accident occoured.
Yilzoom explained that that the investigation revealed that
speed limit violation and loss of control were the immediate causes of the
crash.
“Note that five persons who died were not occupants of the
vehicle, rather, they were pedestrians who were by the roadside waiting to
cross.
“The driver, in trying to avoid the pedestrian ran into five
persons who were killed as he lost control due to the speed he was travelling.
So, far 19 persons were injured and five killed,” he said.
According to the Commander, the injured victims were
immediately rushed to Damagum General Hospital for medical treatment.
