South West NNPP warns APC, PDP leaders over Osun LG crisis
The New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP ) has called on Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and his predecessor and blue marine minister, Gboyega Oyetola, to cautioned their followers over the ongoing crisis in the state.
The call followed the bloody clashes trailing the supreme Court judgement which reinstated the sacked council Chairmen and Councillors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
NNPP South West National Vice Chairman, Comrade Wale Alabi, in a statement signed y the Publicly Secretary, Victor Olalekan Adeoye, said the situation has forced the opposition party to intervene and call for peace in the struggle for the control of Local Government Administration by APC and PDP.
Adeoye explained that while NNPP as a leading opposition party is not interested in the political shenanigans of both the PDP and the APC, it is more concerned about the restoration of peace in Osun State.
The National Vice Chairman added that both leaders must caution their followers and party members to be patience enough to allow the peaceful enforcement of judicial pronouncements at the apex Court.
According to him, the wanton waste of precious lives and properties is a reminder of the horrific scenario of the 1965/66 wild wild west which must not be allowed to recur.
"The leadership of NNPP in the Southwest without any doubt and a wide knowledge in the public domain that the two political parties flaming the embers of this crisis in Osun State shared the same political umbilical cord, and so the two siamese twins(APC & PDP) are hereby advised to go back to their origin and agree at bringing a lasting peace to Osun State.
"NNPP recognizes that the only way we all can enjoy a level playing ground in the polls come 2026 is by restoring peace back to Osun's political atmosphere. No meaningful election could be held in a crisis*,, he said
"Southwest NNPP hereby call on all opinion Leaders in the State, the former political leaders, former Governors, Excellencies Chief Adebisi Akande, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola including former heads of the Legislative arm, Royal Fathers,religious leaders and many others to derobe themselves of prides of their political convictions and employ their valuable experiences at wading into the crisis to bring normalcy to the State of the living spring", the NNPP Chieftain added.
Adeoye, however, call on the Judiciary to henceforth desist from delivering ambiguous judgements that can be twisted to support selfish interpretations of political rivals.
He asked both the National Judicial Council NJC and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to ensure that any further ambiguous judgements from any Judge be investigated and dealt with appropriately.
