Rivers: Fire outbreak at Port Harcourt Refinery


A fire outbreak has hit a section of the Port Harcourt refinery in Rivers State.

This is coming after the renewed attacks on the oil installations in the state.

The ugly development has forced President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to declare State of Emergency in the state, suspending Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his cabinet, as well as the State House of Assembly for six months.

The cause of the fire outbreak is still sketchy.

The National President of Petroleum Retailers Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria, Billy Gillis-Harry, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Wednesday, however, silence on the details of the fire outbreak.

Gillia-Harry explained that the fire was contained in less than 5 minutes after it broke out.

“Yes, it is true that there was a fire outbreak in the Port Harcourt refinery, but it was contained in 5 minutes,” he said
