Ogun Police arrests three suspected cult members in Yewa axis


Three suspected cultists are now in the custody of the Ogun State Police Command following their arrest in the Yewa axis of the state.

The arrest is coming few days after the renewed cult clashes in Abeokuta, the state capital, had over the weekend claimed no fewer than four lives.

The suspects, identified as 23-year-old Adebowale Idowu, 25-year-old Oke Ela, and 27-year-old Abiodun Segun, were arrested in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of the state.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the arrest to newsmen, said the suspects were nabbed during the stop-and-search patrol.

Odutola explained that the arrested cult members were arrested while driving an unregistered vehicle along the Ilaro/Oja-Odan road.

The Police spokesperson assed that during the search, a battle axe and a knife concealed beneath the driver’s seat were recovered.

According to her, the suspects were immediately arrested and further investigations are ongoing
