NNPP Chieftain Worries Over Ongoing Sango-Idiroko Road Reconstruction Project

A Chieftain of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Comrade Akinbola Hammed Rotham, has expressed concerns over the ongoing reconstruction of Sango-Idiroko Road in Yewa axis of Ogun State.

According to the politician, the road is too narrow despite being the Federal and ECOWAS road.

Ogun State's Public Relations Officer of NNPP, Comrade Akinbola Hammed Rotham, in a statement, said the project is below the expected global standard.

The Politician explained that the contractor handling the project has demonstrated a lack of expertise in the job.

For instance, He said the road project is not wide despite the demolition of various properties to pave the way for the reconstruction road project.

Comrade Akinbola Hammed Rotham further stated that the contractor is also using the roadside as the construction site, the act that is endangering the lives of the road users in the area.

"Let's look at the size of the road which is too narrow for such a road known as both Federal and ECOWAS road, to the quality of materials being used as well as the health hazard posed to the road users calls for a serious concern

"Apart from the substandard of materials used and the narrow nature of the road being below international standards or world standard, trailers have to divert to the opposite lane because of the unlevel nature of the road, putting other road users at risk on their own lane, this tells the reasons while frequent accidents are occurring particularly trailers falling and blocking the road more often.

"The authorities concerned must quickly rise up to the development to ensure the project is not below the expected global standard and the resources of Nigeria Commonwealth does not go down the drain" he said

Apart from the hatchet job being done by the contractor, the NNPP image maker also said the ugly development posed great health challenges to both the motorists and other road users, as well as the residents in the axis.

He, however, called on the appropriate authorities to properly investigate and monitor the project in order to ensure that the scarce resources being expended on the project are well utilized.
