Adebayo explained that the takeover was not an achievement but an embarrassing confirmation of the state government’s failure.
He added that the development is a glaring indictment of the state government’s incompetence in managing public institutions.
According to him, the State main opposition party under Daniel's administration established in order to expand access to higher education and create employment opportunities.
He, However, it accused successive APC administrations, particularly Abiodun’s, of neglecting the university despite operating a trillion-naira budget annually.
“It is shameful that the same APC government, which frequently boasts of economic progress, cannot adequately fund one of its most significant academic institutions.
"The takeover of TASUED is a necessary intervention to save the university from further decline due to the reckless abandonment by the Abiodun-led administration,”.
"Ogun State had now lost control over an institution originally designed to serve its indigenes but the neglect of TASUED was part of a broader trend of poor governance affecting other state-owned higher institutions and critical infrastructure.
“The opposition party called on stakeholders and concerned citizens to demand a detailed account of government spending on education and seek urgent intervention to prevent further collapse of the state’s public higher institutions.
It emphasized that governance is about responsibility, not excuses, and accused the government of attempting to mask its failures with media propaganda.
“The takeover of TASUED by the FG confirms the disturbing state of public education in Ogun State. No amount of media deodorization can cover up this reality.
“Mr. Abiodun must be held accountable for the fortunes of the state, and we must not allow flimsy excuses to bury the future of our institutions,” the statement concluded.
