Guru Maharaj Ji Comments Tinubu Over Rivers Emergency Rule, Warns Fubara Against Political Crisis

The founder of the One Love Family, Satguru Maharaj Ji, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers State.

The declaration, according to the cleric, is a constitutional and patriotic decision taken in the national interest.

Maharaj Ji, in a statement titled “Revisit the State of Emergency Declaration: A Political Imperative in National Redemption,” said the intervention became necessary due to the deepening political crisis between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

He explained that the decision, made on March 18, 2025, followed violent clashes, destruction of public property, and loss of lives that threatened peace and governance in the state.

“The President acted within the powers granted to him under Section 305 of the 1999 Constitution,” Maharaj Ji said. “The emergency rule was a temporary and constitutional measure to restore order and protect citizens from further harm.”

He criticized those opposing the move, including the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), describing their position as “misguided and sentimental,” arguing that Section 305 allows the President to temporarily assume control when a state government can no longer function effectively.

Maharaj Ji also faulted the 1999 Constitution, saying it was drafted under military influence and lacked full legitimacy to guide Nigeria’s democratic development. He urged Nigerians to view Tinubu’s action as a bold attempt to save the country from political instability.

While commending the President for lifting the emergency rule after peace returned to the state, Maharaj Ji cautioned Governor Fubara to work closely with Wike and avoid being misled by divisive political interests.

He urged the Governor to prioritize development, good governance, and environmental restoration in oil-producing communities.

“Governor Fubara should focus on uniting the people, improving infrastructure, supporting journalists, and promoting transparency,” he advised.

Maharaj Ji further called for urgent attention to oil spillage, gas flaring, and illegal bunkering in the Niger Delta, recommending that community leaders and traditional rulers be involved in finding lasting solutions.

He warned that the Governor could face impeachment if he engages in divisive politics or neglects key security and developmental issues affecting the state.

“Tinubu’s intervention in Rivers was a masterstroke that restored stability and exposed those plotting confusion,” Maharaj Ji concluded. “It was a victory for peace and a lesson in leadership.”

He prayed for continued peace in Rivers State and the success of the Tinubu administration.
