BREAKING: Gov. Diri Finally Dumps PDP Ahead Of 2027 Polls
Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has officially resigned
his membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of 2027 general
polls.
This is coming less than 24 hours after his Enugu State
counterpart, Governor Peter Mbah, also announced his defcection from the major
opposition party in the country to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The development is expected to put an end to months of speculation
about the governor’s move to dump the party which had made him the Commissioner
under former President Goodluck Jonathan, as well as elected as House of Reps
and Senator before becoming the governor of the oil rich state.
Diri, in a post by his spokesman, Daniel Alabrah, however,
silence on his next destination either to join APC or the African Democratic
Party (ADC).
The governor also did not give details on why he resigned
from PDP.
Also, all the PDP members in the State House of Assembly,
Commissioners in the State Executive Council have all resigned their membership
of the party in what appeared as solidarity with the governor.
