Ogun First Lady, Dufil Prima Food Dole Out Scholarships To Public School Students
The wife of Ogun State Governor and Founder, Ajose Foundation, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, has awarded scholarships to 50 indigent students across the State, in collaboration with Dufil Prima Foods Plc.
Speaking at the event, at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, Mrs. Abiodun said the initiative was designed to ease the financial burden of parents and guardians, urging them to closely monitor their children’s academic progress, while motivating children to pursue their education with dedication.
‘’This gesture is for parents who genuinely want their wards to be educated and we feel that they need to be encouraged, that’s why we are bringing this scholarship. We hope that they will monitor the children very well while the beneficiaries too must continue to keep the flag flying,’’ she said.
In his remarks, State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, commended the beneficiaries and encouraged them to keep striving for excellence, charging parents to remain actively involved in the education and moral upbringing of their wards.
In his goodwill message, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, described education as a powerful tool for personal transformation and national development, appreciating Mrs. Abiodun and Dufil Prima Foods Plc for the consistent support of indigent students through various initiatives and for sponsoring the scholarship scheme.
Lending his voice, Chairman, Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Apostle ’Biodun Sanyaolu, applauded the partnership, describing it as a worthy investment in the future of the State and the nation. He encouraged teachers across the State to redouble their efforts in nurturing students towards achieving greatness.
Representing Dufil Prima Foods Plc, Mr. Temitope Asiwaju, explained that the scholarships were part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) revealing that beyond granting scholarships and financial aids, his organisation also planned to equip secondary schools’ laboratories to support science education.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, David Elijah from Ijebu-Mushin College in Ijebu North Local Government and Ifaseke Odutola from Illisan High School, Ikenne Local Government Area, expressed gratitude to the First Lady and Dufil Prima Foods Plc for the scholarship, while promising to remain focused on their studies and become good ambassadors of the State.
