Ogun Police Arrest INEC Officials With Cash, As Ogun CP Orders Discreet Investigation
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two individuals identified to be officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and others for alleged electoral offences in Iperu Remo area of the State.
The suspects were arrested at about 12:45am during the Ogun State, during the Federal Constituency Bye-Election on 16th August 2025.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, in a statement, said the suspects were arrested by a police patrol team attached to Iperu Remo Division.
Odutola explained that the suspects were intercepted inside a vehicle marked AKD 887 HT.
She identified the occupants as Mr. Toryem Joe-Stans and Ms. Mandara Aminat, both officials of INEC, alongside their driver.
According to her, a search of the vehicle led to the recovery of cash sum ₦2.5 million from Mr. Joe-Stans Toryem.
Odutola said the suspects during interrogation allegedly confessed that the money was collected at Kehoy Hotel, Iperu, Ogun State, from a man he referred to as “Political Solution”, acting on the directive of his supervisor.
She, however, said the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered that the suspects be transferred to the State CID, Eleweran, for immediate discreet Investigation.
