Great Heart Companion Club Marks One Year Anniversary In Grandstyle, Supports Widows With Cash Gifts
A social club, Great Heart Companion (GHC), has called on Nigerians to assist the less privileged and the poor masses in the society.
According to the club, meeting others need should be the business of all and not left in the hands of government or political elites alone.
President of the Club, Engineer Olufemi Oni, who made the call while speaking during the first year anniversary of the club in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital, said the goal of group is people oriented.
Oni explained that the group was formed with the intention to make remarkable difference beginning from their immediate community to the society at large.
The president listed some of the achievements of the club to include financial support to needy, healthcare intervention, community programmes, empowerment, among others.
"The focus of our group is people oriented activities ranging from financial and other intervention programmes
"We are going to the society as light and salt in other to make remarkable differences by lifting others, especially the needy and poor masses", he said.
Guest Lecturer, Mr Seun Aro, while speaking on the theme "The Power of Unity and Supporting the needy in our community", asked Nigerians to always united to assist one another in other to address most of the challenges facing people in the society.
Aro added that society can address most of the challenges in unity if members of society can work together by putting their resources for the common goal.
"The power of unity cannot be overemphasized in addressing the challenges in the society and to make our community a better place
"I want to commend the Great Heart Companion for leading the great course, especially with their intervention programmes which must be emulated by others", Aro concluded.
A medical expert, Dr. Moses Olanrewaju, advice Nigerians should place premium on their health and as well lifestyles.
He admonished people to go for periodic health screening and check up, especially the rising cases of cervical and prostate cancers in the society.
"Our people need to take their health with utmost priority in the face of different health issues with some new ailments being discovered regardless of age or any other status
"We must ensure we go for routine medical check up and screening while we keep the advice from our medical experts while we watch our lifestyles in order to live a healthy life", Dr Olanrewaju Concluded.
Baale Abule Ake, Chief Samuel Olawale Oguntoyinbo, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the club, asking them to continue to be the good ambassadors of the community.
The highlights of the event include Presentation of Cash gifts to widows, Cutting of Anniversary Cake, Dancing, refreshments, among others.
